Cermaq is a global leader in farming and producing salmon and trout, with China being one of its primary markets. To celebrate the Chinese New Year — the Year of the Horse —, I was invited by the agency FutureBrand to create an illustration that integrated the product (salmon) into the rich universe of Chinese culture. The project required deep research into the strokes, techniques, and aesthetics of traditional Chinese illustration. The core concept was to shape a geometric and commanding silhouette of a horse, filled with festive, historical, and iconographic elements from the country. The result is a striking celebratory piece that connects the product's identity to the traditions of the Eastern market.
